Abundance

Abundance is a call to renew a politics of plenty, face the failures of liberal governance, and abandon the scarcities that have deformed American life. The twenty-first century has been marked by unaffordability and shortage, with a national housing crisis, limited immigration, and inadequate clean-energy infrastructure. The crisis is not the result of past villains but rather one generation’s solutions. Rules and regulations from the 1970s often prevent urban-density and green-energy projects that would help solve the 2020s’ problems. Laws meant to ensure government considerations have made it difficult for governments to act consequentially. In recent decades, our capacity to see problems has sharpened, while our ability to solve them has diminished.
